“In your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed (Genesis 12:3)”. The ascension of Jesus to the throne of David transcended mere genealogy—Abraham’s seed was never about one nation alone (Israel) but all the nations of the earth. As Daniel 7:14 declares: “Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him”. We already established that the invisible things of HIM from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, so that we are without excuse in knowing HIM (Rom. 1:20). As revealed in Scripture, the chronology of HIS coming could be divided into five distinct seasons: The Era of New Beginnings, The Law, The Kingship, The Prophets and The Birth of The Kingdom.

The Era of New Beginnings

Out of the blue, hypothetically, “The Lord had said to Abram, get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.  I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. In you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:1-3).

Why Abraham? Every time we see “and XYZ begat ABC” in Scripture, as genealogies unfold, I believe God was searching for a man—one who was willing and obedient. Perhaps Abraham was not the only man God called, but the first to respond and that right promptly.

The ethnogenesis of Nations began with Shem, Ham, and Japheth—the sons of Noah (Gen. 10). In a sense, Noah could be considered the father of all nations on earth. However, the true Father of all Nations is Him—the Seed. God’s promise was clear: “In your seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed”. Not in you (Abraham), but in your seed. Abraham’s prompt obedience made him the mediator of the covenant, but he was not its sole proprietor. Like every heir to the promise, he was as much a partaker of the promise (Romans. 4:16). When the scribes and Pharisees boasted, “Abraham is our father,” Jesus responded, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:39/58). This clarified that the promise was never about Abraham himself or Isaac but about the One—the Seed. Apostle Paul makes it clear: “Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, ‘And to offsprings,’ referring to many, but referring to one, ‘And to your offspring,’ who is Christ” (Galatians 3:16).

Now, Jesus is both the Father and the Seed; not Abraham, not Isaac, He alone fulfilled the Scriptures:

“I will make you into a great nation”—the Kingdom of his dear Son (Col. 1:13).

“I will bless you and make your name great”—wherefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name (Phil. 2:10).

“In you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed”—having blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3). The promise given to Abraham found its complete fulfilment in Christ, through whom all nations now have access to the eternal inheritance.

“But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster” (Galatians 3:23-25).
