After salvation, what’s next? This is where many believers get stuck, between the inherent riches of their inheritance and the practical understanding to actualise them. Before I proceed, it is important to emphasise Jesus’ exclusive divine power for the remission of sin and the impartation of eternal life (the very God-life) as the greatest asset and the foundation of our faith. Yet, Jesus did not just come to give us life, but to give it abundantly, with all its fullness (John 10:10).

Scripture affirms, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness…” (2 Pet. 1:3). Christ stands at the apex of man’s insatiable needs (Heb. 4:9–16). All we’ll ever need is found in Him, and there is absolutely nothing missing in Him. “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell” (Colossians 1:19), and there’s nothing given to Him He withheld from us. He prayed, “The glory that you have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one even as We are one” (John 17:22).

After salvation, therefore, the believer is called to a victorious life; not one spent seeking what is supposedly “lacking”, but one devoted to growing in the knowledge, faith, and obedience required to walk in the fullness already received in Christ. “Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith” (1 John 5:4).

For every spiritual blessing, there’s a corresponding grace-gauge that governs the flow. Scripture declares, “Blessed be the God… who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Yet, it also affirms “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). This reveals that while the blessings are fully given in Christ, their manifestation in the believer’s life is sustained and amplified through the measure of the abundance of grace in operation.

For instance, we have been saved by grace through faith, not by works; it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). But those who shift their faith in Christ to natural laws, Paul said, “Christ is become of no effect unto you… you are fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4). Likewise, we’ve been declared the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21), but it is those “who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness” that are confirmed (Romans 5:17). Furthermore, we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works (Ephesians 2:10), but until the grace abounds, we can not abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

The Christian journey after salvation is not a quest for what is missing, but an awakening to what has already been deposited in Christ. This is why apostle Paul prayed, “that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:18). As our understanding is enlightened, our faith built, grace abounds, victory is given and sustained, and the fullness of our inheritance finds expression in our daily walk.
