It’s the first day of 2026—and it already feels like that year: the acceptable year of the LORD, a year one can boldly testify as “my year,” where long-awaited promises find their fulfilment. One of my anchor passages for this season is Isaiah 61, “the year of the LORD’s favour.” Scripture teaches us that there is no mystical ownership of time on God’s part—no literal “God’s year”, but rather our days and years, which become significant when we choose to align. As John testified, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day” (Revelation 1:10). The day became “the Lord’s” because John was rightly positioned.

Alignment, therefore, is the spiritual requirement for positioning in God’s purposes. God does not adjust His frequency to accommodate anyone: “I am the LORD, I change not” (Malachi 3:6). Our responsibility is to tune in—being properly positioned according to God’s order, purpose, and timing. Habakkuk captures this posture clearly: “I will stand upon my watch… and will watch to see what He will say unto me” (Habakkuk 2:1). Every genuine alignment births instructions—divine assignments.

Assignments, therefore, are the covenant responsibilities entrusted to us before the manifestation of God’s favour. God said to Joshua, “Observe to do according to all that is written therein… then you shall make your way prosperous” (Joshua 1:8). Throughout this year, instructions will come—sometimes quietly, sometimes clearly; often through the witness of the Spirit. “Write the vision… that he who reads may run with it” (Habakkuk 2:2–3). But the decisive factor is not the instruction itself; it is our response. Obedience is what to do to unlock supernatural supply—within prompt and complete obedience to the vision lies God’s provision.

Abundance is the natural aftermath of true alignment and faithfully executed assignments. It is the realm where supply appears to exceed the purpose of need— “My cup runs over” (Psalm 23:5). Abundance is not needless luxury, but fundamentally a proof of God’s covenant of wealth: the supply to sustain purpose, advance His kingdom, and bless others without strain. “The LORD shall open unto you His good treasure… bless the works of your hands, and you shall lend unto many nations and not borrow” (Deuteronomy 28:12).

It’s not wrong to live in abundance; it’s not against scripture to pursue greatness. It is a year marked by divine purpose and divine supply. We have a mountain-top destiny in Christ (Matt. 5:14). It is not a time to drift or wish for the best; it is a year to walk intentionally with God, listening, responding, and acting. As we do, we will testify truly of the year of the LORD’s favour.
