Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sound the alarm upon the mountains! This is a call to soberness and spiritual sensitivity—we are at war! It’s not a time for complacency. Stay vigilant, stay equipped, and stay on course. The contention is real, and it’s against the faith (the Kingdom of God/body of Christ), but victory belongs to those who stand firm in divine assignment.

I remember a childhood game we played as children, ‘I call on’. The game is played by three or more people in a big circle. The idea is to call a random player in turns; whoever is called must jump into the centre of the circle and shout ‘stop’, while others dash as far as they can as quickly as possible before the word is uttered. The caller then attempts to catch the nearest player in three jumps. If successful, the caught player lost a point; if not, the caller lost instead.

One fateful day, my beloved sister and I had disagreed earlier, and as a result, we both set out to eliminate each other from the game. Determined to outdo one another, I made impossible jumps just to cut down her points, and she wasn’t any less athletic or relentless about her jumps either. Unknown to us, while we were caught up in our personal battle, our neighbour (the third player) had an unopposed sail to victory. By the time we realised our foolish quest, it was too late.

This is often the case: we misplace our battles, turning against one another while the real adversary operates unchecked. The devil thrives on division, knowing that a house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:24). True vigilance is not in debates and discords against one another but in standing united against the real enemy. Our strength lies in discernment, unity, and unwavering focus on our divine assignment.

This is a call to genuine repentance and spiritual awakening. The Lord desires heartfelt transformation, not mere outward expressions. “Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God” (Joel 2:13). It’s a time for deep reflection and realignment. The trumpet in Zion is not just a sound—it’s a summons to our attention to refocus and to prepare. Now is the moment to be vigilant.
